๐ธ Photo series #14: Deep dive into an annual pilgrimage in Portugal
Experience and discover a sacred procession through photos.
Dear passionates,
Welcome to our latest edition of Storydrops! As we continue to strive for excellence in delivering valuable content, we want to take a moment to emphasize just how important your feedback is to us.
We are currently thinking about launching a new edition of StoryDrops in addition to the photo series: Collect&Share.
๐ค What is Collect&Share?
Every two weeks, we will invite a street photography collector on stage to talk about his/her collection. It can be of any form: photo books, prints, NFTs, zines, bookmarks, โฆ
Collectors are passionate to talk about photography and they can teach us a lot. They show us what makes photos amazing to them, what kinds of styles and genres they like, and even what's popular right now. They help us understand why certain photos are strong, and why their culture and feelings affect their choices. Seeing how excited collectors are can make us love photography more too. This passion can inspire us to try out new techniques and discover new perspectives. Just remember, they like certain things because of their own personal tastes.
A collection shouldnโt rot on shelves or computer folders, it should shine and be shared โจ.
Your thoughts, insights, and suggestions are the driving force behind our evolution, ensuring that we're consistently meeting your needs and exceeding your expectations. For that reason, we created a poll. We count on you to share your opinion.
Without any further ado, here is todayโs photo series!
The last Sunday of August, an important gathering for locals takes place in Portugal. The colorful and emotional photography of Estรชvรฃo Manuel Lafuente immerses ourselves in this devoted event.

Pilgrimage of Saint Bartholomew by Estรชvรฃo Manuel Lafuente
โฑ๏ธย Reading time: 3 min
Legend says that Saint Bartholomew was burned alive and his ashes thrown into the sea where he was reborn carrying his skin in his arms. Every ritual that makes up this festival and pilgrimage finds its seat in the purification and renewal. Every 24th of August this important pilgrimage takes place in the north of Portugal. Pilgrims devoted to the saint participate in the procession that takes place on the beach of the same name.
Written and shot by Estรชvรฃo Manuel Lafuente.

Your favorite places to shoot
My favorite places to photograph are all the streets where urban myths happen. London, Istanbul and New York could be the chosen ones for now.
According to you, what makes a good picture
The definition of a good photography enters the dimension of clichรฉs. However, we will all agree that the framing, the light and color or its absence, the aesthetic standards and the some dynamics will be fundamental.
Currently, for me, a good photograph must also contain several pieces of information that connect together in order to tell a story or start a narrative. It must be so subtle that after a first look, seeing it again becomes a desire. Itโs not easy to get a good one.
Your favorite photographers and where you get inspired.
Inge Morath, Marilyn Silverstone, William Klein, Bruce Gilden, Martin Parr.
