📸 Photo series #23: In Pisa 2023 International Street Photography Festival
By Lorenzo Melocchi
Hi everyone, 👋
In today’s edition we’ll step into the lively tapestry of the 2023 Pisa Street Photography International Festival through the lens of Lorenzo Melocchi. In the heart of this ancient Italian city, he shares with us a visual journey through the streets, where you find a mixture of Pisa’s people and visitors from all around the world .
Famous for its Leaning Tower and centuries of history, Pisa becomes a different kind of icon through his images. This photo series is an unfiltered, unapologetic glimpse into the soul of this enchanting city during the 2023 festival, celebrating the art of capturing the world as it happens, unscripted and unposed.
Make yourself comfortable with a good coffee and enjoy the photos! ☕️

Last 23-24 September I was in Tuscany for the “Pisa Street Photography International Festival 2023”.
Luckily for us there were two sunny days which helped me taking advantage of the lights and shadows.
Once we arrived at the tower of Pisa it was total madness, it was full of posers who gave us the most absurd poses and the most incredible photographic opportunities (at least for me) of this 2023.

Describe yourself as a photographer and where you are based
I’m based in Milan, Italy. I've always been a "people observer" so when I bought my first digital camera it was clear what really interested me, the streets.
Your favorite camera and lens
Fujifilm gear 18mm and 23mm (28 and 35 full frame equivalent).
Your favorite places to shoot
My city and where my travels and my photography takes me. It’s actually not about a specific place.
According to you, what makes a good picture
It’s a quote from Constantine Manos: “by choosing a precise intersection between the subject and the moment I can transform the ordinary into the extraordinary and the real into the surreal. That is the magic moment”
Your favorite photographers and where you get inspired.
Alex Webb, Joel Meyerowitz, Matt Stuart, David Alan Harvey and Richard Kalvar.
